Roleplay Rules
1) No God Moding and/or Meta Gaming
What does God Moding mean? This means that you never take any damage and never attempt any actions against other players, you simply assume that any hits made will auto land. In order to avoid God Moding please understand that there is give and take in any role play, not just combat-based RP. When attempting to strike someone, steal from someone, or any other action that involves someone else please use attempts. This is most especially important for those that have powers.
What does Meta Gaming mean? This means that you use OOC (out of character) information IC (in character). An example of this includes, but is not limited to, using titlers above people's heads to automatically know what their name is or their occupation. Please find out this information IC and through RP (roleplay).
2) Know the difference between IC and OOC. This is important as they are to be kept separate.
What does IC mean? "In Character". This means the persona you are playing out on sim, not you as the typist.
What does OOC mean? "Out of Character". This is the human typist behind the said persona. You.
Please understand that while some of us like to roleplay a cruel and abusive character that doesn't mean that the typist is cruel and abusive. Most people that play any sort of villain in a story are actually very nice OOC. If you have a problem with a fellow roleplayer about something they said or did IC then please address it IC. If the issue cannot be resolved IC then please message the person privately and explain how you'd like to change the direction the roleplay is going.
With that being said if you have any OOC issues with a player that cannot be resolved between the two of you please contact an Admin and we will gladly assist in getting any disagreement settled. We listen to both parties before making any final decision.
3) PO (Post Order) and you
In large groups sometimes post orders are not followed as not everyone is interacting with the other. This is perfectly understandable and acceptable. However, in smaller groups post order is expected.
What's a Post Order? This is the order in which people are posting their roleplay in open chat. When you approach a scene. Make sure you allow for one full posting order to happen before you post in. This means
that everyone already in play when you approached gets a chance to post in once before you do.
Why is it important to wait for my PO? Waiting for your turn allows you to understand what is going on in the scene. You may find that what's going on is not something you want to be a part of. You may approach two people that seem to be just standing there with their avatars but really IC they are fighting. Perhaps you don't want in on the fight. Maybe you just want a mellow day. Waiting to see what they are roleplaying before jumping in will help you make this choice.
4) Posting Someone In
Please do not do this. If someone approaches the scene allow them the observe and decide for themselves if they want to join the scene. They may decide that the scene is not for them and move on. Which is fine. If you auto post someone into your scene before they enter the scene of their own accord you are forcing them to interact in something they may not wish to be in.
5) RP Limits
This is very important. You may find yourself writing something that makes you not feel comfortable. No one is here to ruin another person's RP story or time online. If you do not wish for certain types of RP (such as rape, mutilation, or death) please state so in a profile pick. This prevents those situations you may wish to avoid. If they are RPing something that is against your limits, even with a limits profile pick, just IM the person privately and ask them to amend their post and/or inform them of your limits politely. Most people who RP aren't trying to make you OOCly uncomfortable and will happily change the direction they are going.
6) ICA=ICC
In Character Actions = In Character Consequences. If you steal and are caught you could lose a hand or be publically flogged. Remember that in roleplay limits can not be used as a shield to avoid consequences. What that means is if you have in your profile that you refuse to be maimed in any way then you may wish to avoid doing things that would cause maiming. Admins may wave your limits if you are found in the habit of doing this. With that being said the Admin team does absolutely respect limits. We aren't looking to break your limits or make you uncomfortable OOC in any way, however, limits cannot be used as an excuse to get away with anything you like IC.
