Tips, Tricks, & FAQs

Last Chance City is shrouded in mystery. Who are The Others? Below, you can find three sections full of useful information – IC information, OOC information, and FAQs.

IC INFO

This information can be known or found out by your character. Whether it is through returning memories or word on the street, this information is available for every player on the sim.

1) Pregnancy – For some reason, no one really seems to get pregnant. Maybe it’s the water or something in the food, but no one seems to get pregnant who has been thrown into the city by The Others. Huh, weird.

2) Air Drops – The sound of helicopter blades whooshing in the air generally only means one thing – supply drop. It’s never quite in the same place and the competition for the resources is fierce… Good luck!

3) Subway Station – It’s where many people's stories begin. Even now with the hole in the wall people still arrive through the subway from time to time.

4) Memories – Why can’t many people remember anything? Ironically, no one knows! Maybe they never knew or just forgot that they knew… either way, some people seem to have hazy memories of their time before they came to Last Chance but nothing concrete enough to figure out how they got here. If you came through the hole in the wall you would have all of your memories still intact.

5) Electricity – There didn't use to be electricity in the city but since the helicopter crashed into the wall the electricity has returned. How long it will be on and who controls the electricity no one knows.

6) Running Water - There is running water in every building but it's green and toxic to drink. It is not, however, toxic to bathe in or wash clothing with. Those that drink it get very ill and those that drink a lot of it die.

7) Powers - Some people are starting to exhibit powers beyond what could be thought of as natural. Sometimes it's mundane like a change in eye color, sometimes it's a great deal more devastating. Most don't survive the change.

*Note – Even if you somehow find a cellphone or laptop, and it still works enough to charge, there will be NO cell service or internet. NONE!

OOC INFO

This information is for OOC purposes ONLY. This is for the convenience of the PLAYER. Any use of this information in an IC context will be considered METAGAMING.

1) Pregnancy – Why is there no pregnancy? The water itself that The Others send, and in their food, have birth control within it. It's why they made the water and subsequently the soil toxic, forcing people to live off of what The Others provide. Why prevent pregnancy? Population control so their experiment doesn't overcrowd and taint results.

2) Factions – There are four (4) faction buildings in total. They can only be controlled by official factions. This means, there is a limit of four (4) official factions at any given time. If there are no official faction spots left, you may still form an unofficial faction and wait for a spot to become available.

3) Unofficial Factions – If there are not official faction spots available, please feel free to make an unofficial one! You can still grow in power and reputation; you just can’t have an official faction building that has electricity. Your faction base will need to be in a free-for-all building.

4) Free-For-All Buildings – A free-for-all is exactly what it sounds like. These are the buildings, squats, shakes, tents, storage containers, etc., that are available for anyone and everyone. Some are pre-furbished, some are empty, but the most important part is they’re free! Unlike rentals, however, these free-for-all buildings can be taken ICly. If you want to keep your squat, you’ll need to defend it!

5) You've been chipped! - Every male and female were implanted with a  chip before they are delivered on the subway. As of right now, there is NO way for your character to find out about this chip. None. At all. Not even a little bit. The purpose of the chip is so The Others know where their test subjects are at any given time.

6) You want a power? - Excellent! Make sure to fill out the application portion on powers or speak to an admin if you've already applied and been approved to RP here but did so before powers were allowed.

FAQ

Is Last Chance modern RP?

Yes and no, Last Chance city is not modern RP as we know our modern times to be now. It is a post-Apocalyptic urban. No fantasy clothes, but no working cellphones either.

What year is it?

The date matches the RL calendar. For example, if it's December 25, 2020 in RL, then it is also December 25, 2020 in the sim. We are on an alternate timeline than RL.

How did my character end up in Last Chance?

You arrive on the subway or walked through the opening in the wall.

Does Last Chance City have electricity?

Yes, though it is unknown how long it will last and who is granting the city their power.

Are there cellphones/computers/internet connections?

Nope. Nada. None. Not even a little. If you find a cellphone or computer, it’s likely just a paperweight at this point. There is absolutely no access to cell service or internet connection. You can, however, power it up and play solitary so there's that.

Do I have to join a faction?

No. No one is expected to join a faction but it’s encouraged!

Do I have to have a power?

No. Having a power is purely optional.

Can I have a vehicle?

Yes, as long as you have an OOC permit. There are a limited number of vehicle permits available for rent. There is also a limited number of vehicle options available – a dirt bike, old-style motorcycles (nothing with a computer in it), ATV, and bicycles.

How do I get a rental?

If there are available rentals, please contact Belle Black

(camiya.resident) or That One Bastard (Deklan Ravenheart). They will gladly show you where the rental boxes are and where the homes and trailers are to rent.

Is there a list of powers to help me decide what to pick?

Yes, please ask an admin if you can see the list and we'll provide you with it.
